Adrenaline Vault has posted a rather comprehensive review of Empire of Magic. The final score is 2/5 stars and this paragraph is an example of some of the frustrations encountered:
Character movement is controlled with the mouse and is typical of the genre, with one caveat: If a unit is selected, you must right-click to clear the selection before highlighting another. This seemingly minor issue causes a great deal of aggravation, especially in battle. Planning an attack involves clicking a unit and then clicking the desired enemy unit to dictate a target. After the assignment is made, you instinctively want to click the next friendly team member to continue your planning, but doing so causes you to change your attack from the enemy you just selected over to your buddy. After countless hours of playing other games in the genre, it goes against nature to have to clear your selection. |
