Some spellcasters have mastered the art of animating statues, turning them into semi-stationary guardians. Gargoyles usually stand guard in their frozen stone shape, and then come to life when intruders enter the area they guard.

Behavior and tactics
Gargoyles are able to attack simultaneously with their horns and claws. They are surprisingly agile in combat, clawing and biting with a speed that belies their hulking size and massive weight. They often use their initial bursts of speed to close down on poorly armored spellcasters among the intruders, ripping into them ferociously.
