RPGVault talked to Neal Wiser from UltraPrimne Network in an interview about their recently announced MMORPG "The Evolvers". Here's how the interview starts:
Jonric: How did the idea for The Evolvers arise? And what led to the unique idea of integrating a game and TV series in a single project?
Neal Wiser: Evolvers came from a variety of sources; a novel I was working on which was based on a short story I wrote in college; my fascination with evolution, technology and the evolution of technology; the realization that the future is going to be nothing like the way popular sci-fi portrays it; and the desire to do something really cool.
As for linking a game to a TV show; video games really frustrated me as a kid - the technology didn't allow me to play the games the way I wanted to play them. Then, when I turned on the TV and saw that the game I was playing had nothing to do with the TV show it was based on, I felt like I wasn't really participating. I felt cheated. Today, technology allows games to feel almost as real and compelling as reality. With this new generation of persistent-state games available 24/7, the game can now form the core of a franchise's universe while the TV show becomes a window into that universe, so everything can now be linked. |
