Please keep in mind that only a very limited number of people will be selected at first, but the applications will be used to select additional testers throughout the alpha testing process. | Source: RPGVault |
ToTheGame has posted a preview of Warcraft 3 with a twist - a report of one of the orcs in a beta game. Here's a bit:
The army is assembling. We leave for the settlement at nightfall. Just the past few hours our camp has increased enormously. Hordes of bloodthirsty orcs has arrived, swiftly sharpening their weapons ready for war. Orcish victory whispers in the now bitterly cold and strong winds. In great numbers we travel, towards the east, to satisfy our lust for violence and carnage. Creatures travel with us, unknown to me, but I dear not agonize them, for I do not know their strength. All I do is follow and do what my supreme commander tells me to do. There are more enemies than just humans in these woods. |
In the latest Black Moon Chronicles Dev Diary, François "Flint" Bourdeau from Vircom talks about progress being made and things getting done. Here's something from the article:
The five major cities were completely redesigned to further differentiate them and to bring them even closer to the original graphic novel's look and ambiance. Lhynn, Altenberg, Sysigie, Moork and Horkher each present a very unique personality, so strong it will further enforce role-playing and highlight the cultural differences between the four factions. |
Another review of the Arx Fatalis demo (apart from ours) can be found at SLCentral. After noticing some bugs, they come to this conclusion:
All these things should hopefully be fixed when Arx Fatalis ships, as it is scheduled for release on April 16th, a scant week and a half after the highly anticipated RPG from Gas Powered Games, Dungeon Siege. Arx Fatalis already has a huge following given the legacy of its predecessors, and if the game's development keeps on pace between the now and the release of the final game, there will be a lot of Looking Glass and RPG fans that will *not* be disappointed. Will Arx Fatalis be able to stand on its own? Or will it simply sink into the deepest pits of the underground, and lose its place in the spotlight to Dungeon Siege? Watch for our review when it hits stores next month |
A short preview of Grandia 2 is online at Eurogamer today. The console port for PC will be released within the next months. Here's a part of what Eurogamer has to say:
Grandia II gameplay consists of many dungeons and turn-based battles, much as you might expect, and although these can become fairly laborious after a while, its possible to avoid battles by simply skirting round enemies whenever you encounter them. At the end of each battle you partake of, your party earns Skill Points (SP) and you can use this to improve your character attributes. The game also has its fair share of magic, which becomes available depending on skill levels and the like. |

In GameStar's latest issue, some interesting links to mod sites have catched my eye:
Note that all of these projects are still in development. Especially Ultima Unreal looks very promising!

Here are some tidbits from the Atriarch forums at Stratics, the Vault network and ATWwatcher:

Planet Dungeon Siege has two scans from the Dungeon Siege manual on their front page, showing something about character attributes and a map of the lands... | |
