Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 7/10 points |
A beutiful game with a huge gameplay environment, but I found it to feel mostly empty. More variety was needed in the array of monsters, and the npc's needed more...well everything. The NPC environment was pretty much just static with everyone just standing around doing nothing 24 hours a day. The conversations and dialogue choices were always repeating leading to frustration. To top it off, with all of the gameplay environment space and the number of questquest, there really wasn't much to do. A majority of my time in gameplay was just spent walking around looking for something to do or trying to find a specific location. Once there, the challenge was low and the solution was quick. I feel this game is way overrated eyecandy. |
Gothic: 10/10 points |
I found this to be the perfect game for my likings. Lots to do and lots of npc activity. The world size was just right. There was just enough distance betwen locations to make it feel like you were travelling a distance without making it feel boring. The number of different monsters (villians) was great, and the growth of the character and story was well done. Most of all, this game came out of no where for me. It was not a crock of glorified hype pushed into uber status by the fan-boys. Gee, what game could that be :/ ? |
Siege of Avalon: 5/10 points |
I found this to be a decent game with a bad marketing strategy and concept. Get one free chapter is a good idea, just a demo, but then the buying individual chapters from then on was not that good of an idea. And yes, after a while, the abundance of reading takes its toll. Voice would definitely help boost the games rating and enjoyment for me. I have all of the individual chapters, but I think I only made it to chapter 3 before I just got bored with the entire experience and removed it from my system. |
Stonekeep: 9/10 points |
This was the first rpg I ever played on the PC so it will always be one of my favorites. Maybe it was a good thing that I was new to the PC scene when Stonekeep released, therefore I had heard none of the hype and had no great expectations nor did I understand the long development time that was invlolved. I really enjoyed this game and played it from beginning to end while trying to do everything in the middle. I remeber at one point I got stuck, unable to continue. I think I called Interplay or something, and they mailed me the patch disks. I still have them. I am guessing I was not on the net at the time, so I had no way to download the patch. Before the patch arrived, I had managed to work around the bug and defeat the game. Being that I have not played Stonekeep since 1995 and it is now 2002, I can not really go into the details of the game, but I will always remember that I was very absorbed into the world and story during my many hours of gameplay, almost to the point of a 'need' to play on until the end. |
