The latest RPG Vault Soap Box sees Jay Powell from Merscom, NA co-publisher of 'Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition', writing about the budget market:Fortunately, for those of us looking for games beyond the realm of franchises and licenses, the full-price market is not our only option. There is a growing selection of titles retailing at $20 and $30. While these price points have traditionally been reserved for second-rate games and AAA releases that no longer sell for $50, and many games in those categories are still priced at those points, there is also another breed of game now huddling up next to those reduced-priced AAA titles. While the likes of EA, Ubisoft and the other big boys dominate the headlines, a handful of smaller publishing houses, at retail and through electronic software downloads, have been quietly and effectively populating the $20 and $30 price points with really good games. |
