GameSpy has put up a preview of Ascaron's action RPG 'Sacred'.
For all the arguments the Diablo games inspired among gamers over whether they should be considered action games or RPGs, the one thing most agreed on was that they were flat-out fun. Game publishers didn't particularly care what the new genre was called, either; they saw the dollar signs and proceeded to come up with more than a few Diablo clones. For all the effort, though, few (if any) have yet managed to capture that magic formula that made Blizzard's titles classics. Ascaron, an English developer best known for management and trading sims like Port Royale and the well-regarded Patrician series, just might have discovered Diablo's secret, and its entry into the action-RPG genre is called Sacred.
