If you think Duke Nukem them forever is the oldest running gag in gaming history: nope. Grimoire is. In August 2001 it was announced ready for beta testing. In December 2001 it was announced being in beta. In February 2002 the release date was set to July 4th, 2002. On July 11th, it was said to be released Halloween. And now the Grimoire forums have been updated with this note from Cleve:
It's been a disappointing year for us at Grimoire Systems. We wanted very badly to release Grimoire this year, but time and resources have not permitted it yet.
All we can say is - hope springs eternal. We're close. We want to get Grimoire in beta testing first thing in 2003 and released soon after. We've got a lot of things on our plate and Grimoire is the first spike we intend to drive for our climb to the top of the shareware industry.
God bless you (sorry to offend you atheists) and keep you safe and happy during the holiday season. Remember to drive carefully and don't drive under the influence.
In 2003 you are going to see Grimoire released, a new isometric game from us, an arcade platformer and some application software that is part and parcel of our unique development house. Until then, keep checking in and we promise updates will be more regular in the New Year. Thanks, Corwin, for reporting this really unexpected developement *grin* |
