GameSpy has whipped up a 10-question Q&A with 'World of Warcraft' Quest Designer Jeff Kaplan.
One of the most interesting aspects of the World of Warcraft is just how dependent it is on the quality of its quests. While other MMO's take a more open, "do your own thing" sort of philosophy, Blizzard tends to believe that every moment you spend in the MMO should be one in which you're doing something fun. As such, the game is full of quests designed to constantly direct players to fun things to do. There are few positions more important to the success of the game than the Quest Designer. Jeff Kaplan (whose official title is "Game Designer") is one of the people who performs this task for World of Warcraft. As the game launches and the public finally gets a chance to start sampling Jeff's work, we were lucky enough to get the chance to shoot 10 questions his way about what he does all day.
