Lionheart Item Feature 4

2003-03-31

Lionheart is a computer role playing game that is being developed by Reflexive Entertainment in conjunction with Black Isle Studios. The game is an original title which uses an updated version of the SPECIAL character development system (from Fallouts 1 and 2) in a quasi-historical medieval Europe. Lionheart diverges from traditional high fantasy by placing the player on Earth in the 16th century in which history has taken a different path and magic has been released upon the world. Using a mix of historical and fictional locations and characters, the player progresses through a deep story while advancing through the classless character system.

In this new series of articles, designers of the game will introduce several items from the game

Sacred Lance

Touching this lance immediately fills the mind with images of suffering and penance, erasing all doubt that this is the artifact originally used to spear Christ when he was on the Cross. While the lance has the texture of wood, it has the resonance of steel. Whoever carries its weight obtains 5 to their Armor Class, 5 skill points in the Divine Protective Branch, 1 to their critical chance and 1 to their Fortune. An unseen force prohibits it from being used as a weapon.

Scorching Blade

Fire Damage 3-16. Small runes on the hilt proclaim the sword to be the property of the Black Devils. Historical markings indicate that the blade was chiseled from volcanic rock and magically welded with iron to produce a fire that could not be quenched. In addition to the fire damage that it deals, the blade also confers 25% fire resistance.

Flashpowder Keg

This small keg contains a combustible powder that can be ignited and dropped for a large explosion. The substance inside is rare in Europe, and many believe it to be the work of the devil. It comes from the trade routes of the Far East, where its secrets of creation are held in mystery.
