GamePen has posted a very short preview of Sea Dogs 2. This is something from that article:
You can sail in real time across the waves to your next destination, but doing so would literally take days so there is also a ‘Sailing via the world map’ option that highlights passing merchant ships, ripe for pillaging, and other pirates that may attack. This is the marrow of the bone that Sea Dogs II chomps on with all it’s worth. If your enemy cannot flee or wants to duke it out with you, then the battle is on. There is so much realism in these ship-to-ship battles, from cannon-fire to boarding the enemy and swashbuckling it on deck Captain Hook style. “To the winner goes the spoils”, that means the ship and all its goods, skill points to increase your abilities (from sailing to fencing) and the captain can be made to walk the plank… unless you decide not to board the ship and instead pummel it down to Davy Jones’ Locker. All the while you must keep an eye on the state of your crew, sails, and hull. You can even join your crew on the deck and give your orders from there, just watch out for the lightning during the storms and don’t take a swim, there’s sharks in them there waters. Not all cannon balls you let loose from your ship are aimed at other ships either, nope, you also get the opportunity to lay siege on maritime cities and forts. |
