With Dungeon Siege residing on my HD right now, you should know what sacrifice it is to post news instead of playing the game *g*. But how could we let those newsbits unannounced? There are two new reviews of Dungeon Siege. One is at GameZone, rating the game 9.1/10. Their conclusion is reading like this:
This is a joyful game to look at, and addictive to play. This game may not have the catchiest name in the realm, and its title may be indicative of what it presents, but when it comes to RPGs, this is one game that holds its own against all of the competition. It will rob players of time (as in, time will pass so quickly you may pull an all-nighter or two without realizing time is slipping past so quickly) and reward with an action-packed jaunt through an amazingly rendered land.
The second review is at Warp2Search (displaying a VERY BIG popup). Their rating is 5 out of five stars, and here's something about music and sound effects:
Sounds and music are nearly perfectly co-ordinated. The classical score never becomes boring, because a sound or a music piece is repeated too often. Sound effects are crisp and suit the purpose well such as bow shots or sword clings. Also the narrator, who drives the story onward at the beginning and at the end of a chapter, sounds professional. Unfortunately one meets mute comrades quite often: supporting characters communicate with you via a text window. Genuine dialogues are not included. As soon as you address someone important, the character will have his voice acting but that's it. There are no interactive talks like in Baldurs Gate but this does not harm the overall excellence of the sound score of Dungeon Siege.
Creative Labs EAX technology is implemented and it puts emphasize on the unique environment settings you are about to explore in the Dungeon Siege world.
