IGN has published a preview of Warlords 4. Here's a bit for you:
Where Warlords: Battlecry II sits squarely in the real-time strategy genre, Warlords IV is most certainly a turn-based strategy title like the first three Warlords games. There are some significant differences from previous turn-based Warlords titles however, even if many of the tried and true turn-based elements remain in tact.
But before you jump into any of the game types, you're going to have to create a warlord. These guys are your personal representation in the gameworld, as they were in Battlecry, but are used much differently than in the past. When you create a warlord, you'll be able to choose a portrait, a name, a starting city name, a race to follow you, and ability specializations. You pick a primary skill and secondary skill, the primary meaning it will be more powerful of course. Combat, nature magic, rune magic, divine magic, necromancy, and summoning are your choices. You can pick one of each or two of the same type making your warlord particularly powerful in one area. |
