1Up has tossed a rather unconventional review of Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna online with a score of 7/10. Here's a taste:I'm not as dumb as you'd like to think even though I am filled with hatred (it overflows, like when Bruce and Samuel tried to balance the excess water in Die Hard With a Vengeance into a single gallon to avert certain death by explosion -- yup, I'm the gallon and I accept no more than X amount of water, less I too explode). I do believe Diablo should be tossed aside like the parmesan from January of 2003 I ate last night with my tomato rice soup, but I still recognize that it serves a purpose, fills a role, and appeals to a hell of a lot of people. Thus, I set my flaming personal bias aside and see the game as it should be seen: perfectly valid. Dungeon Siege, like Diablo, also has a place in this world. It's a dumb, pretty, straightforward, big game that's all about collecting treasure and pummeling kobolds for no particular reason other than that they're simply evil. Legends of Aranna, Dungeon Siege's expansion, then cannot be faulted for offering up more of the same since that is what expansion packs do. |
