A score of 86% is the result of 3D Avenue's review of Sid Meier's 'Pirates'.
Sid Meier's Pirates! was first released onto the gaming scene back in 1987, and in almost 20 years time, a new version has finally been recreated by Atari and the highly regarded game designer Sid Meier himself. As a child, your family was kidnapped by pirates as a consequence of an overdue payment. You manage to escape capture, and from then on vow to avenge this kidnapping and rescue your family, which you set out to do 10 years later after you have grown into an adult (Hey, this ain’t no Peter Pan story). As you take control of this pirate captain, it is your job to, of course, find your family members and generally take over the pirate scene while you're at it, all done in the vicinity of the Carribean in the 17th Century, which is occupied by such European countries as Spain, England etc. The storyline itself is a little corny, but does nonetheless give the game plenty of room to work with as far as gameplay goes.
