Midwinter
has rated the following games:

Baldur's Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn: 10/10 points |
I don't get how people can say Morrowind is at the same level as this beautiful game. The Baldur's Gate has everything The Elders Scrolls hasn't: personality, engaging story, tactical combat, intriguing characters and cool quests. In my opinion this is the best CRPG to date and the only game that comes near it is Fallout 2. |
Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 7/10 points |
It's a decent game in it's genre, but it's definitely not as great as some people say. Yes, it has a unique style, there is a lot to explore and the graphics are beautiful. But Morrowind also has many flaws. Combat reminds me of 'button smashing' and isn't tactical at all! The gameplay is also quite repetive: all quests come down to the same old pattern (fetch this, kill that, etc.) and although Morrowind is filled with many, many NPC's, they all repeat each other and almost never have anything unique to say. Characters are very, very weak for an RPG. Not to mention the tediousness that is 'topical dialogue'.
Good game for the broader audience, but if you are someone who wants *role playing*: games filled with story, depth and personality, seek elsewhere. The Bioware games (Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Planescape) are excellent on that field. |
