There have been a few indie developer remakes released for free on the Internet, but they maintained the 2-dimensional aspect, interface and portrait system. The new Bard's Tale is going to be fully current with the latest developments, like three dimensions. You'll get an isometric perspective like in Fallout or Dungeon Siege, fully animated models, and more colors than you can shake a stick at. Then they have a huge screenplay stretching over hundreds of pages, written by people who do that kind of thing for a living.
