State of the site

We once again made our financial status public on the donation status page. As you can see, we are still losing money, of course. And since the net loss will reach more than 1000$ by the end of the year (and this is money paid out of our own pockets), we decided to close our hosting services and the second server in order to diminish our burn rate (it wasn't something we loved to do - and this will happen at the end of the year, with 2 months of advance warning for our hosted sites). As always, donations are welcome, at least as long as the advertising situation is as grim as it is. Another way to help us is to get your virtual or dedicated server using either the banner at the top or the link to the left - our host does pay commissions for every new user we get for him. We've been with Rackshack.net since July (you may well remember the troubles we had with other hosts), and their services are something we can recommend from the bottom of our heart. Their dedicated servers are fast, reliable and extremely cheap (99$ a month for the server and 300GB bandwidth), the only downfall is the setup fee (299$). Their tech support is fast, friendly and reliable. And their virtual servers run on a RAQ4i - not too bad for a mere 10$ a month :-).

Ok, enough advertising *g*. As you might have noticed, we have postponed the RAM upgrade for the server to December, because of our financial situation. As our usage grows and grows (14.000+ pageviews a day) and the database gets larger and larger, this is something we will have to do in the near future. So we hope to make it happen this month.

As always, feel free to mail us with comments, suggestions and thoughts - your input is valuable to us in order to make our services even better...
