GameZone and Gamespot have posted previews of Silent Storm, a turn-based, squad-based tactical RPG with a WWII setting. Here's a snippet from the Gamezone preview:
The gameplay is reminiscent of a turn based RPG, as I mentioned earlier. Movement, combat, and actions such as opening doors or even changing positions from standing to prone use a certain amount of AP’s (Action Points) to accomplish. Once you are out of AP’s, or don’t have a sufficient amount to perform your next action, the turn ends and your enemy gets to take their turn. In the same RPG arena, you will also earn experience points as you kill enemies or complete tasks, which in turn can be spent in building up various strengths or abilities such as stealth, improved senses, or more accurate shooting even when injured displayed in a tree format similar to ones found in games like Diablo. By improving in skill A, you might get an option to improve in skill B or C during the next level, and so on.
Gamespot's article is quite detailed and here's a sample:
In our time with the game, we encountered a variety of missions, each of which opens up a new location on the map. So far, we've been tasked with preventing a bank robbery, discovering important documents and freeing a prisoner, locating a scientist, and several other goals. You'll actually recover a lot of different documents because the game's story revolves around figuring out what the enemy is up to. There are also random encounters that appear on the map in stationary locations--they're set up so that you won't be attacked unexpectedly, which is a welcome feature indeed. These random encounters don't advance the story, but you can use them to gain experience for your characters. And at this point, it seems that you won't have to worry about weapons and ammo, since the armory at your base has plenty of ammunition for you to pick up, and everything is free because the game has no monetary system.
