RPGDot Game Rating Machine

RobKob has rated the following games:

Ambermoon: 10/10 points

Definitely the best RPG for the Amiga and one of my all-time favorites. It has a HUGE gameworld ( doesn't even fit one one planet :) ), an epic story, excellent graphics for an Amiga game ( with isometric and first person areas ), a lot of freedom, an easy but tactical fight system, many cool spells, very good music and much more. It's really worth a try.

Baldur's Gate: 10/10 points

Somehow, although this game has its flaws and is not as good as its successor, I like this game a little bit more than BGII. The story is more compelling ( you start as an orphan, discover your heritage, save Baldur's Gate ) than that of BGII ( you hunt a wizard ). I also like to explore. The game was innovative, exciting and has nice graphics ( but the dungeons are bad ). And it was the answer to a lot of prayers from desperate CRPG-gamers. For ending the RPG-drought it gets an extra bonus from me. All in all, I award it ten points.

Baldur's Gate - Tales of the Sword Coast: 7/10 points

With this add-on BG finally gets a decent dungeon ( actually a really good one ), and Balduran's Isle is also fun. But the quality of some other part of the program leave much to desire. The Arctic Isle quest is crap and the interior of the Ulgoth's Beard houses is just ridiculous. And the add-on was way to expensive when it was released.

Black & White: 1/10 points

Urgh. Absolutely terrible. Aren't games supposed to be fun? Your people are like lemmings, leave them alone for a little while and the population will decrease dramaticaly. They are just to stupid to do anything on their own. You just don't feel like a god if you have to micromanage everything. It's interesting for a day or two, but than it gets tedious. And why is this game listed here? It's not an RPG!

Diablo: 6/10 points

It was innovative, had decent graphics, good atmosphere and was, at least for a while, fun. It's not an RPG though, only simple hack'n slash. I liked this one more than its severely overhyped successor Diablo II.

Diablo - Hellfire: 6/10 points

Eight new levels and two new classes. It's okay.

Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction: 5/10 points

Bad graphics, poor story, poor gameworld, few innovations, clickfest, not an RPG. But the cinematics are great.

Dungeon Siege: 7/10 points

Good graphics, interface, music and hack'n slash. Poor character developement and story. No real replay value and role-playing.

Realms of Arkania 3 - Shadows over Riva: 8/10 points

Good story , gameworld, graphic, atmosphere, NPCs and music, but too linear and short. It's predecessor Star Trail is better.

Thief - The Dark Project: 10/10 points

Although it is beyond my comprehension how anybody can claim that this gem is an RPG it is simply a great game. I love the gameplay, the magic and steampunk world, the gloomy atmosphere, the "cinematics",... RIP Looking Glass. You are missed.
