Tannhauser Gate has secured a publishing deal with a Korean publisher, for distributing the game in Asia. Here is the information (minus the company bla bla):Tannhauser Gate, a Poland-based games developer, and KingdomWorks Interactive, Korea-based online game publisher, announced their plans of launching localized versions of Mimesis Online, a full 3-D MMORPG, in Asia including Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan. The closed beta in Korea is scheduled to start late January and open tests are to begin in March 2003.
Mimesis Online is a science-fiction massively multiplayer online game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Having managed to receive some decent attention the game was praised for its original concept, great background story as well as intriguing and challenging world. Mimesis was independently released back in January this year. Its constant post-development has brought many interesting features until now.
The game will undergo several modifications before hitting the Asian marketplace. "We want to make sure that Mimesis is warmly and enthusiastically welcomed in Asia.", said Piotr Krzywonosiuk, Tannhauser Gate spokesman, "We shall implement many nifty features to provide Asian gamers with the product they dream of. Except for being modified and enriched, Mimesis will be offered in local language versions."
KingdomWorks Interactive will be responsible for setting up game servers in Asia and handling a robust customer support. The company is going to distribute and promote Mimesis Online on Asian marketplace.
"Mimesis has some good chances to be a massive success in Korea. There is this so far unfilled segment on online gaming market in Asia and we intend to win it over with Mimesis" said Hyeong-seok Kim, Director of License, KingdomWorks Interactive Ltd.
The full commercial service in Korea is scheduled to start in Spring 2003. Other Asian countries will follow that date.
Tannhauser Gate CEO, Artur Jaskolski, commented, "We are thrilled to start working with our Korean partners. The Asian market is the largest in the world and has always appealed to us. Being aware of the amount of work that is ahead of us we are very eager to take up 'Koreanization' of Mimesis. KingdomWorks is the perfect partner given their knowledge of the Korean market and Korean gamers' needs. We expect a lot from this cooperation."
"Mimesis showed us ultimate potential to succeed here in Asia, and I am sure that cooperation with Tannhauser Gate will provide gamers in the region the very game they have waited for.", added Hyeong-seok Kim. |
