Better late than never, that's what the guys from Solinari.com might have thought when they published their review of Baldur's gate: Dark Alliance for PS2. The rating is a decent 74%, and they compared it to Diablo (and found it to be inferior):
Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is not a particularly bad game, however, it would seem that the developers tried too hard to make the game as similar to Diablo as possible, without directly copying aspects of the game. Too bad similar just isn’t good enough. It’s definitely worth a rental, especially for the multiplayer aspect. It also packs a couple of extras, including an appearance by Drizzt Do’Urden, the most popular Forgotten Realms character. The ending to the game is horrible because it was left so open, but all this means is that they plan on making a sequel to the game, which may or may not be bad depending on if they just copy the entire game engine in a new settings. It’s worth trying out, but don’t have a heart attack if you see it and can’t afford it at the time. |
