Game-Vixen's charming Crickette has revealed her rather realistic review for the Xbox version of Advent Rising, in which she gives it an overall 6.5 out of 10 rating...

One excellent thing that Advent Rising does have is its music. Beautiful orchestral swells and crescendos follow you throughout the game, as does eerie and vibrant choral voices. Sometimes however, the music overcomes important dialogue and since the game isn’t very forthcoming in what the heck is going on, you need to hear all the dialogue you can get even when it makes no sense.

All in all, I really wanted to like Advent Rising. The concept is interesting, the story showed promise, but in the end it fails to really deliver. Gamers tend to look at three major things in their games: graphics, game play and story. Unfortunately Advent Rising falls short in all of these categories. It could have been better, it should have been better and we can only hope that in the coming installments these problems are fixed and never return.

As an interesting sidenote - the currently available Xbox version of this game retails new for $49.99, while the PC version of the same game (when it is finally released) will retail for only $29.99!!
