Description: |
The game takes place, initially, on the continent of Surisen. 10,000 years ago, a great battle between Valmar and Granas left a great rift known as Granacliff, which now divides the world in two.
Plunge into the crack, and it's believed that you'll fall straight to the depths of hell. Obviously, people aren't too keen on taking up the challenge, and thus trade between opposite sides of the tear is nonexistent. In present time, those notorious strange occurrences that are the root of a thousand RPG stories lead people to believe that Valmar, who was thought to have been defeated by Granas, may be set for a revival from the great rift.
Ryudo is a so-called "Geo Hound," a bodyguard for hire. It so happens that he's been hired to guard the body of one Elena, singer in a local Church of Granas. Ryudo must see to it that Elena arrives at a tower in time for a ceremony that is believed to seal Valmar once and for all.
Grandia's game world was one of its most attractive features, and that seems to continue in the sequel. There's an amazing level of detail in the Grandia II world -- something that the original was known for and that the sequel continues. Buildings have curves, trees have volume, and the ground looks real (in a cartoony sorta way) due to the use of high-resolution textures.
