IGN has posted a preview of the PvP battlegrounds that are supposed to be added to 'World of Warcraft' in a future content update.Whether you think World of Warcraft is the best thing that's ever happened to or just another boring MMO grind, it has already proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the short time it's been on the market. Selling out across the nation, selling above the original price tag, and selling on eBay, it's something every gamer knows about, or they know someone who can't stop playing it. As far as I'm concerned, it's a heck of a game--but there are some things I'd like to see added.
One of the few downsides I mentioned in the review was the underwhelming PvP (player versus player) implementation. To be frank, what it consists of right now on the PvP server is groups of players running or riding around and swarming members of the other faction that are around ten levels below them and basically squishing them flat in a few seconds. It's a real buzzkill, and high-level players might find themselves getting derailed into militia mode on their way to a quest. Besides the groups of "gankers," there's also high-level rogues who benefit from stealth and deadly positional attacks. Last night in Booty Bay on the Frostwolf server, a level 60 troll rogue charged like a bull in a china shop for about half an hour before slipping away without a scratch. |
