RPG Vault speaks with Age of Mourning's former former Project Manager, Andrei Gireada.Jonric: What kind of game is Age of Mourning, and what differentiates it from both Mourning and other fantasy online worlds in general? And what is the current status of development?
Andrei Gireada: Mourning was officially terminated sometime after it launched, so Age of Mourning should be considered a completely new project based on the prior work, with a few new individuals involved.
Age of Mourning is a PvP-centered online RPG. The player will enter a world, and based on his or her actions, will come to rule part of it. Currently the world has more than 100 square kilometers and has several types of land - temperate forests, frozen lands, a magical type of elf forest, and wastelands.
In Age of Mourning, we have a free skill-based system where your skills rise based on the actions you take in the world. Additionally, when you perform certain actions (for example when you kill a monster) you receive XP that you can invest in any area you want. We opted for this combined system because it better regulates power leveling.
Currently, the project is frozen and we are preparing to start development for it once again later this month. When it was closed down in June 2005, it was feature complete, but there were parts that were not functioning properly because of bugs, so we decided to pull it. More... |
