Starting with the obvious, there isn’t an FPS on the shelves that can touch Deus Ex in the graphics or character physics department. Lighting, shadows, environments, characters and weapons are all just flat out gorgeous. Ion Storm looks like they’ve taken full advantage of DX 9 capabilities in this one, and textures and surfaces look awesome—the only reasonable comparison we could think of to give you an idea of the level of the graphics in this title is Splinter Cell—and even that doesn’t quite measure up to DE: IW. The game’s sounds are excellent as well, and if you’ve got a force feedback game pad, then plug it in and prepare to enter the world of Deus Ex.
