Here's what you need to know: Emurasoft has officially launched the first chapter of its episodic action role-playing ShadowFlare today. The first chapter is available now for $14.99 (USD) from the official US site for the game, with subsequent episodes coming later this year and in early 2003. ShadowFlare is an action role-playing shareware game similar in style to Diablo first released in Japan in October 2001 by developer Denyusha Co., Ltd. Players take on the role of mercenaries in a world plagued by the activities of a demon and its followers. Players start out as simple fighters, but with experience can advance to higher level classes such as warrior, wizard, or hunter. Players gain experience through completing missions assigned in towns which range from wiping out hordes of monsters to retrieving objects and artifacts. A playable demo was released yesterday.
