The Earth & Beyond week continues on GameSpy today. Day II brings us an interview with E&B's lead artist Ken Raschko as he talks about the approach he took in designing the visual aspects of the game. Here's an excerpt:
GameSpy: Now, for planets that aren't "known" (or are the products of someone's imagination over at Westwood) a different approach was taken. Give us an example of a fictional planet that was created for the game that combines realism with sheer imagination.
Ken Raschko: My favorite is a planet a content designer requested where the bones of a huge creature were visible from space. The intent was that some huge creature died in outer space millions of years ago and the corpse couldn't escape the gravity of the planet and crash-landed. If you come across this planet in the game you may notice hints of an impact crater leading to where the creature's final resting place is. |
