Electric Playground has a review of Anachronox up for you. The shorty rates the game 80% - and here's a part of the review:

The combat is strongly reminiscent of Squaresoft’s Active Time Battle system. When in combat the clock runs continuously-–at least until it’s one of your characters’ chances to deal damage. You may then stop time to select what the character will do in his or her turn. No doubt it’s a derivative system, but it suits the game well. Even better is the combat’s pacing. All too often a role-playing game has too much fighting. Combat is great, but sometimes you want to move from here to there, and see what twist the plot has in store. Ion Storm realizes this and has toned down the battle frequency to a manageable level.

Too bad, however, they didn’t tone down the bugs. My unpatched game crashed to Windows semi-frequently. Hey, we all understand the need for cash flow, but to release a buggy product hurts publishers in the long run.
