Gamer's Pulse has reviewed Troika's AD&D-based fantasy RPG 'The Temple of Elemental Evil: A Classic Greyhawk Adventure' rating the game at 35 out of 50 points.ToEE’s fighting system is, luckily, a bit more complex than the repeated clicking found in rival Blizzard’s popular Diablo series. Although the battles are turn-based, they move with fluidity and grace that makes them seem to be playing out in real-time. When you click on an enemy, a radial menu (a wheel with lots o’ choices) appears around the foe. The interface is easy to navigate and from there you can attack, cast a spell, or even access your inventory without any trouble. The battles can grow a bit repetitive though, and sometimes I cringed at the thought of having to kill another throng of lumbering skeletons. Also, for newcomers to the genre, the fights can be overwhelming, especially with five fighters in your party. Personally, I preferred using only two party members: a warrior and a sorcerer or thief. This made the game more accessible and easy to keep track of what was going on on-screen. |
