Andrew Brazier from Headfirst answered some questions about Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth in an interview with Bluemonday. Here's something:
One novel feature is that the game tracks the player´s sanity. If you see something scary, you lose some sanity and start to hallucinate. Another original feature is that there is no standard hud to be seen. There´s no health meter and no ammo counter. If you´re leaving a blood trail, it probably means you´re hurt, and you should remember how many times you shot to know when it´s time to reload. Well, I guess Trespasser tried to do something like this, but it was a good idea…
Call of Cthulhu is based on NDL´s NetImmerse engine, the same used by Mythic´s Dark Age of Camelot and Bethesda´s great looking The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (must… have… now…). Previous works of Headfirst include Simon The Sorcerer 3D, another NetImmerse based game that I never had the chance to see (and doing a quick search, I can´t find many references about it anywhere, or even a place to order it online…). |
