One of the worst CRPG's I've played in a long time. I could forgive (kind of) the horrendous graphics, but the gameplay and all the missing elements (good things from the earlier series) just made it not worth the effort.
I'm very disappointed in New World for this shodding con-job of a game. |

My rating is based on a comparison to the other M&M games. I've played all of them since #2 and they were all great up until now. They took out nearly everything from the earlier games in M&M9. A couple things that come to mind are the fact that there is no flying, which was my fav thing about the games (nothing better than calling meteor showers upon the hordes of monsters from high above) and a bunch of stupid new spells replaced the old ones (I have no desire for dark magic if I can't learn shrapmetal and why bother with the elemental spells if there is no incinerate or mass distortion) Also, there are fewer skills, not near as many intersting things to find while exploring(obelisks, campfires, mysterious shrines, horseshoes, genie lamps, etc...) and there are no more HORDES of monsters, which were so fun to obliterate. Any M&M fan will recognize the many missing elements that made the earlier M&M titles so great. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Would love to see a M&M 10 done right. |

MM9 is a fun game if you have a lot of patience. The game starts off quite slowly but gets much more interesting mid-game and beyond. Graphics are dated but adequate, and that basically describes the whole concept and reality of the game also. |

Bugs, bugs and more bugs. Think they could have waited another month with the release, and then the game would have been a lot better. It's still not by far as good as Might and Magic VI or VII. |

It seems like the Might and Magic series has taken a step back with this title. Graphics are fine, but there is so much missing. The inventory system is poorly done, automapping feature is nearly useless, and what is up with having to use the keyboard for everything???!! The lack of an on-screen interface nearly ruins the game and is by far my biggest complaint.
If you're willing to deal with the game's shortcomings though, you'll find a good, old-school RPG with lots of exploration and quests and an interesting character-development system.

All the magic is gone, twice. The magic of playing a fun game is simply non-existant, and the magic of characters within the game is nearly useless. Might 9 does get better after the first 10 hours, as some reviewers suggest, but that just represents an improvement from abismal to just plain bad.
I finished this one along with every other M&M except VIII, and it is BY FAR the worst of all those that I've played.
The game is easy, repetetive, boring, broken, and flat. It has terrible execution in terms of bugs, story, graphics, inventory, documentation, skills, and balance.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME. No amount of patching can "fix" M&M IX. The dev team was fired but it seems as though the business managers should be shot for forcing a game out the door when it was at least 6 months from being finished. |

Addicting, better then MM8, but not as good as MM7. This game is not finished. There are too much bugs and NWC was not able to work features people liked in the older games to work into the LithTech engine. Wizardry 8 is by far a better game. |

Simply terrific. The best M&M game since MoH. It resembles MM6 in sooooooooooo many ways.
Yes, the inventory is fucked up.
Yes, there's no writing on maps.
And YES - FLY and WATERWALK are GONE. Two of the best spells in M&M universe are no more.
(At least Town Portal is here :)
BUT M&M9, how to say it, hmm..., SIMPLY 0wnZ.
It FEELS like classic M&M, it PLAYS like classic M&M.
IT IS A CLASSIC M&M.
It is as much fun as M&M3 and M&M6.
A perfect score from me. |

This could have been a nice nice game...
with 6 months more work on it and someone who cares about the NPCs in the game - "Do I want to save these stupids?" (by the way, they have the same faces over and over again) - well, well maybe sometime... when I'm ready with other titles... installed MM6 again. |

Enjoyable game. Feels like it needed a few more months in development before it was released. But not overly buggy, just kind of empty. I miss some feature of the MM6-8, but I recall being very put out by MM6 at first. Needless to say it later grew on me. MM9 is not as good as 4-7 but is better than 8. |

Not only the worst in the series of M&M, but one of the worst RPG's ever. Bugs galore, very awkward storyline, and too easy! I remember when M&M used to take months to finish. Finished this one in less than a week. That's pretty weak. My main beef is how 3DO talked up this game: they said that it would have intelligent scripting, villagers would do different things throughout the day...making it seems like a real village. I only saw villagers walking around blindly facing walls. They said that the creature AI was increased. Well...yes it is increased from the days from the days of rush straight at you and attack...but they certainly can't 'outsmart' you as 3DO has claimed they would do....lots more wrong with it. Too many to put in one review. |

At first I didn't like this game. (just like I didn't like 7, which was my first M&M, played the others later then. Except 1&2. ) But after I played the game for about 2 hours, I couldn't get my hands off it(same happened with 7). Graphics have never been an issue in games for me, unless their so poor that it makes your head hurt(i started feelin dizzy everytime I tried to play MM 1 or 2 :) ). Great game anyway. I loved MMIX:s music. |

This game is quickly headed for the recycle bin. I hope that 3DO reads these reviews and decides to release the real Might and Magic ix. I don't know what they were thinking, because they ruined a good series. Some reviews say that it gets better after a few hours, but I have wasted enough of my time on this one.

I am not very far along but having trouble keeping involved. 3DO has dumbed this game down for the mass market and the young who want something fast and uncomplicated. It lacks the sophistification of MM7 and MM8. There are older gamers who appreciated all the little extras. Why make it like all the others? |

I've been playing M&M since part IV and I must say this is the worst from the whole series. VIII wasn't very good and had already a feeling of being rushed but IX shows it can get always worse. I really liked MM6 and MM7. I'm still playing MM9 for sake of them.
3do company simply abuses the sympathy on MM6-MM7. MM8 and MM9 are completely unsuccessful. MM9 is the worst. Not to mention graphics, but also story and role-playing issues have the lowest quality. I suggest not to waste money on MM any more. |

Ok probably not fair to rate a game I didn't play for more than 2 hours. Gotta give it a 1/10 just for that reason. I am pretty patient when it comes to playing a new game but this just stunk. Graphics/Sound/Gameplay/Interface all were horrid, I had to stop playing it, I'm not an avid M&M fan so maybe thats the problem, but to just pick this game up off the shelfs and play it like I did was a huge mistake. Maybe it builds to something great, maybe... If I see anythign saying it does I might give it another shot. Till then I'll spend my time playing something else. |

Im a fan of all the previous MMs but this one really sucks, they took everything including the familar surroundings of Erathia and butchered it. If you want a REALLY good MM game buy Heros of Might and Magic IV, I played both of them the minute I got them, After visting some of the towns in MM9 I quited and fired up HOMM IV and been playing ever since. HOMM IV is the better buy. |

I got MM9 as soon it hit the stores and what a sad day it was when i played it and found it missing all the good stuff from MM5-8.No more buetiful artwork to inspire one to keep playing. No more cool looking characters making it hard to choose who to play with and adding to replay value. No more mood stimulating landscapes that felt like some nature simulation in a fantasy setting. If they had sold this game under another name it would at least be an average rpg with some gameplay value especially in dungeon areas. It reminds me alot of the old Eye Of The Beholder series too bad they didnt make it that maybe they would have made more money and the devs would not have gotten fired allowing them to make a REAL Might and Magic 10. Thanks NWC for the games that came before this including MM8 which had unfinished art but still had everything else from MM6-7.I hope someday someone makes a new line of similar games like Arx Fatalis did with Ultima.Untill then i will play this because it is still enjoyable along with the other true masterpieces. |

When i first played this it annoyed me that NWC had tooken out so much from prevoius Might and Magic games plus it was also unfinished. Then upon trying it again a few months later i found i actually liked this game.If only 3DO had let NWC finish the game before rushing it out the door this could have been another classic. Still even in its current state it plays very well and keeps me coming back for more. I hope someday they make MM10 with all the humour artistic depth and roleplaying details of the past games. |

This game can be played on a pentium 2 pc! ok if the graphics were great it would take forever to load small crap up. so im happy with them. Grant it the stupidist thing they did was take out the fly and jump spell. and the most annoying thing is selecting your guy on screen, no more clicking them! you have to press tab. And the iven sucks but overall its a good game and their last since thier out of buisness. Thats right 3do no longer exist. |
