By today's standards DM is pretty low. But in 1987 it made me buy a memory upgrade. I had to wait nearly a year to play it. But once I loaded it up on my Amiga it captivated me for years. It was also the single biggest source of my disappointment when buying a pc in 1994. It took years to find a game that had the same kind of creepy sound as DM on the Amiga. Eventually I found the Ultima Underworlds. But DM is a classic title!

Powernic has rated 4/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Powernic)

Nice graphics, but extremmely repetitive and boring.

HiddenX has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from HiddenX)

Dungeon crawl at his best - high difficulty - pure fun.

Drubu has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Drubu)

Incredible in it's day. Very interactive environment, challenging puzzles, addictive gameplay. And all on a floppy disk!

Amarok has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Amarok)

It was way ahead of its time (almost 10 years). Incredible atmosphere. I liked Chaos Strikes back a little bit more, because it was more challenging.

Soulman has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Soulman)

Maybe the best Ultima. Non-linear and with great depth and story. Britannia really seemed alive... The only flaw IMO is the chaotic combat, but that's not enough to bring the score down.

CM has rated 3/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from CM)

Maybe innovative in its day technologically, but a dungeon crawl is still a dungeon crawl. Yawn.

Maggot has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Maggot)

Fun game, I especially remember jumping at the sounds. (running into a mummy where there shouldn't be one for example)

olaf has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from olaf)

Blah. Played it on my Amiga. Didnt like it at all.

ryan has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from ryan)

what a dungeon crawl! The symbol based magic system was great at the time.

Ogre has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Ogre)

DM was just outright cool. Directional sound, well done graphics and a slick interface all combined to make a complete experience. Fab!

Nate has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Nate)

My second CRPG I ever played, right after Bard's Tale. This was a huge step up graphics wise and was a dungeon crawl in the strictest sense. It was great fun, great sound/graphics for its time and still withstandable for today. Unique magic system and overall a very fun game.

Lamrok has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Lamrok)

The most fun I've ever had with a role-playing game. I played it on the Amiga, where it really shined.

Diktronic has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Diktronic)

This game set the benchmark for non-text based RPGs and was the first game I stayed up all night to keep playing. I never finished Dungeon Keeper on my Atari ST... but I went back to it a couple of months ago and was hooked for the whole week or two it took me to complete it.

Le précurseur !

MK has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from MK)

Sony666 has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Sony666)

Back in it's time, it was without equal for many many years, a true milestone. Too bad the expansion and the successor were a major letdown...

Ultimate Thief has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Ultimate Thief)

The first real dungeon game, but repeating gameplay after 1 day

Rune has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Rune)

I played this after Eye of the beholder! It has tons of depth and more combat than others. Good but confusing spell system, Some really hard puzzles! Overall a Great game! Has to be played on the amiga though!

Fisher has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Fisher)

Warning: the sounds may cause severe cases of paranoia to the light-minded player. The first game that made use of the 512 KB memory expansion of the Amiga :)

derek has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from derek)

This was the first RPG I ever played. That was back on my ATARI desktop in 1988. I still rate every game to it.

The puzzles in this classic are still to be bettered! A wonderful spell system and forboding atmosphere. I haven't had as much fun playing anything else since! Best game ever in my humble 20+ years of games playing opinion.

Uther Pentdragon has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Uther Pentdragon)

The first and best graphical rpg, Still supports a thriving fan base. graphics are dated now as its 17 years old . but its still playable, and free improved versions are available for download.

Hollow has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Hollow)

The one. This is what RPG's should be all about. It pushes your brain with simple yet fiendish puzzles. Make you stop in frustration and scream. You feel the power of the party going up, and up, and up.... You feel the tension, the monster just around the corner... Sadly the PC version doesnt hold a candle to the Amiga version, but hey, you can play it on an emulator, so it will go on forever... Anyone complaining bout old gfx...... well, you just didnt get the spirit, so forget it. Anyone saying its boring, you just didnt make it very far did you?

Grampa has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Grampa)

First RPG I ever played. A true classic that was more than a decade ahead of its time. Highly recommended even today to see where it all started.

Udo has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Udo)

Valiant has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Valiant)

I remember ordering this on import way back in 1987 and boy was i happy i did! Back then the graphics were wonderful, the sound was incredibly atmospheric, and the puzzles have never been matched since. This is what made the game for me..very original and challenging puzzles. All this on a single sided floppy disk..amazing programming..pokes programmers in the eye of today i think..most of my games take up 1-2 gig of hard disk space!

Bosh has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Bosh)

This is the game that both my girlfriend and I loved the most.

Georg Korch has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Georg Korch)

THE Milestone for a dungeon crawl. I never forgot the moment when the first mummy appears on the Atari Screen and this THING MOVES towards US ! And followed us ! Thats adrenaline pure, with a amazing dungeon layout, great sound and graphics *for this time* and a real, real tough endfight. I played this with a friend over 3 month every day, we mapped every single level. Again, with Fallout2 and Ultima IV my favorite.

Desdicado has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Desdicado)

Kevin Owen has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Kevin Owen)

The reason I stuck with the Atari ST and the reason I am such a RPG fan. Many lost weekends and like another reviewer, some false sick days too boot. "Old" but will still beat some modern day games for imersivness

I remember seeing the demo for the Atari ST, the gate going up click click clank, and bought the computer the next day. Though obviously the innovation(true innovation, not Microsoft's) of a first person dungeon crawl made it a 10 then and fond memories still a 10, it truly was a great game, and will allways be the one I compare new ones to. I patiently await another nice slow crawl to take it's place, possibly Grimoire if it ever is released. Few others come close. Note to webmaster: Take out all these fake 'name' 1 out of 10 ratings so this game will achieve it's rightful place in the rankings!
