Gamespy has posted a preview of the Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition that combines the content of the original game plus the PC's two expansions into one product for the Xbox:Although this is a new disc, those who have played upwards of ninety or so hours on their original Morrowind game won't be starting from scratch. In a first for this type of console game, the GOTY Edition allows players to pick up the story where they left off and veer into new adventures with their previously developed characters from any original saved games. The expansions are essentially independent of the main plotline, so you can continue on an existing journey, or move into a linear story without losing any of your momentum. The effect is simply a bigger game in total, as opposed to "three games on a single disc." There are some small new additions to the previous version that smooth out some of the original's rougher edges. NPC's now will have health meters during combat, for example, making it easier to judge when you're outgunned or when your attacks are particularly effective. All included, there are about 20 new creatures planned, three new weapons sets, and ice-themed weapons and mail from the Bloodmoon expansion. Also from the PC version is a sliding difficulty, to give the game a little extended life (if you feel it's necessary) for players who want a tougher time. |
