Las chicas at Killer Betties have whipped up an interview with Diana Linnea Hedlund, a Level Designer for eGenesis' non-combat MMORPG 'A Tale in the Desert'.Having the chance to interview women in the industry is an amazing thing. You find out what makes these amazing women tick in an intimate unscripted conversation that ends up with a lot of laughter and great details. While I've interviewed many fantastic women, until this interview I haven't been so completely and utterly inspired. Diana Linnea Hedlund or Otter as we affectionately call her is a level designer for A Tale in the Desert. She tops my list of inspiring women.
Diana didn't start out as a gamer or an artist. Her career goals didn't include games at all actually. Did I mention that Diana is 56? With a background in ancient art, psychology, gardening and drafting (before they had computers) it was completely by fluke that she ended up in our industry. However, if you've seen her work, you'll understand that her background has lead her to the position she is in now. Not only are her landscapes beautiful, but they're fairly realistic to the time period. |
