MSXBox has conducted an interview with Brian Babendererde about Valkyrie Studios upcominn Seraphim:

MSXbox: Seraphim is joining the recent wave of titles that defy standard categorization, blending elements from both the RPG and Third Person Shooter genres. Do you see this approach to mixing game play styles as the future of games and what made you decide to go this route?
Valkyrie: Our approach on SepterraCore was to combine the best elements of RPGs (customizable characters, combat and an interactive, deep world) with the best of adventure games (a deep story, lush graphics and more ways to solve problems than just fighting). With Seraphim, we’re combining the mission-based action game with a sort of RPGish character system. The approach is not to create a hybrid, necessarily, but to introduce a few new elements into a genre that can take it to the next level. Seraphim is definitely an action game; the RPG elements just enhance the action.
