The Stratos Group has posted a review of the XBox version of Arkane's dungeon crawler 'Arx Fatalis'. Rating: 3.5/5.
While playing Arx, there is a great deal that might seem to familiar to many veteran gamers. The setting, certain plot elements, the RPG mechanics, the atmosphere and even a few character voices will remind many gamers of other games gone past, and more specifically of the games of the late, great Looking Glass Studios. Indeed, the purpose of Arx Fatalis is little more than to serve a grand, glorious homage to Ultima Underworld, a game many would call one of the greatest of all-time. Is it worthy of being compared to such a great? Well, it may not be as innovative as the game it emulates and it may be a little rough around the edges, but it's pretty much worthy, yeah.
