The Laser has published a review of Arx Fatalis. They obviously seemed to like the game a lot, giving it a grade of "A". Their summary is full of praise:
Arx Fatalis is by far one of the best game's we've played all year. The main story is extremely well written and conceived, giving fans of the fantasy genre food for thought. The gameplay is intense and attention grabbing, mixing combat, adventuring, and puzzle solving in just the right amounts to make the game challenging from all aspects. Arx also allows players to choose their own path through the progression of the game, leaving the decision making of a given scenario up to the gamer: options can change whether you choose a stealthy thief character, a combat driven warrior character, or a prime magic user. The developers of the game also give players quite a bit of option when it comes to searching out side quests, exploring hidden areas, or just running amok in order to gain more experience points: just when you think you've finished an area, something new and exciting will most likely pop up. Fans of more traditional RPG titles will find Arx Fatalis an exceptional entry into the genre, providing something more enticing than the more usual 2-D gaming field of the past while still including a robust RPG format. FPS game enthusiasts with even a slight taste for fantasy will also find this game to their liking, providing them the action that they crave and the adventuring that they desire.
