Jonathan "Calandryll" Hanna has been interviewed at Ultima X: Ogaming with Part 1 now online. Here's a snippet:
What makes UXO different from any other of the multitude of MMORPGS?

Jonathan: Lots of things! First, our combat system is far more interactive and strategic than other MMORPGs. We’ve used the term “sandwich combat” to describe other MMOGs’ combat systems. In other words, the combat requires so little interaction or strategy that players can easily set up macros to have their character fight for them while they leave the computer to make a sandwich. This lack of interaction and strategy creates a very repetitive experience which is one of the core reasons behind the treadmill” feeling that plagues MMOGs...
