Anarchy Online: 7/10 points |
This game had my complete and undivided attention for about 2 weeks, making characters and fighting in the noobie zones, fun. Doing missions in your starting city for a cool piece of gear, fun. Unfortunately after you reach a certain level you are forced to leave your home and you end up lost in the desert. Call me an idiot but I got lost alot out there and never could figure out what I was doing out. Graphics where amazing that’s for sure, so amazing I was viewing them at 1 frame a second. But how can I fault my hardware? I have since upgraded my computer and was able to play it with out the stutter but it still ended up getting lost. A good game, not the est but fun none the less. |
Autoduel: 7/10 points |
I never really pictured this game as an RPG, it was however a solid game for its time and deserves props, altough probibly notplayable now. |
Buck Rogers 1: Countdown to Doomsday: 8/10 points |
This game is a classic. It had all of the goodness of the gold box games but exchanged ray guns for spells and swords. Only prolem is i do not think many people knew about it. |
Champions Of Krynn: 8/10 points |
I would have rated this game higher but thereis something about the land of Krynn that is decididly not the forgoten realms. Even so, this game still brings back memories and the addition of new classes and races (Kender) and weapons (dragon lance)where very interesting. |
Curse Of The Azure Bonds: 9/10 points |
Although not as good of a gaming experience then I had playing its predecessor it still remains one of the best times I have had playing a computer game. There where a number of miner improvements from this game, specifically the ability to move across the land faster and the addition of two new classes, paladin and ranger. The game as a whole though was more liner then "pool of radiance" and was really its only downfall. |
Dark Age of Camelot: 10/10 points |
I just finally stopped playing this game a couple weeks ago. This game allows you to actually become someone in the game world. Sure its an EQ clone, but everything is better in this game then EQ and I doubt there will be anything to top it for a long time. And if you like politics then this game is for you. Creating a realm alliance is a huge responsibility that not one person can do alone so get ready to brush up on your diplomatic skills. This game is about huge armies clashing on the field of battle with other huge armies, if you gave this game a low score then chances are you quit before you could see something like this. Yes its a leveling tredmill and post 40 is rough. But you have to work for what you want it is nothanded to you. And should not be in this game. |
Dark Sun 1 - Shattered Lands: 8/10 points |
A great game, the graphics where top notch for its time and the game setting could not get any better. There was however a lot of dead ends and useless searches and the mysterious magic axe hiding behind a bucket in some sewer drain. |
Dungeon Siege: 4/10 points |
This game was boring. Not enough character options and the battles all seemed the same and the dungeons dragged on and on around and around, no thinking required, just let your eyes glaze over. Only thing saving this game was the graphics. However the practically top down view was annoying for some reason. In order to see the graphics in its best detail left you with a 10-foot field of vision. |
Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 9/10 points |
20 hours played and this game is only getting better. |
EverQuest: 9/10 points |
Nothing beats the freedom in this game. You can spend the day traveling from one side of the world to another or just spend it in one place hacking and slashing with your friends or trade skilling. This game has it all, weapons, gear, food, friends, booze, and a real economy. Unfortunately just like all games you will grow tired of it. It is also very addicting, so be careful. But, if you’re reading this chances are your too late. |
Evil Islands: 9/10 points |
I enjoyed this game immensely. I did however have more then a few problems with system drags and frame rate at times. But the graphics where amazing and I was completely absorbed by the chracter/party development. Would have been a 10 except for the video lag. |
Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 7/10 points |
One of the better RPG's of its time. However lets get real? a 10?? |
Fallout Tactics - The Brotherhood of Steel: 8/10 points |
Going against the grain here but I actually enjoyed this game. It had it all powerful weapons, vehicles and excellent graphics. It was a bit cumbersome at times with the turn-based mode, but if you didn’t use turn based then you would get smeared. The character development was the same as the other fallout games except some of the skill selections where pointless because this game was not as much of a role play experience then the others in the series. |
Final Fantasy VII: 8/10 points |
This was the best out of all the final fantasy games. Excellent story from beginning to end. However the humor, much as it is in cartoons like "Record of lotus war" and “Star Blazers” is a bit weird. Perhaps it’s a cultural thing. Funny to them, not funny to Americans. Even though the characters had a lot of color and personality they loose they’re cool when they have to take a ride on a choc-o-boo. Other then that the settings where fantastic and the spell system and summon creature graphics where amazing. |
Freedom Force: 9/10 points |
This game is actualy a 10, however it is not an RPG. THis game ended to soon for me, it had everything a good comic book had, a storyline and action packed battles. I want more MORE! |
Gateway to the Savage Frontier: 8/10 points |
A great game in an all-new fresh setting. Not as great as its predecessors but not far off. |
Icewind Dale: 7/10 points |
Had all the good combat elements of Bulders gate plus you could create an entire party of your own design. Would have scored higher but the game is to linear and there for your experience felt a little too secluded. |
Lineage - The Bloodpledge: 2/10 points |
I honeslty gave this game a shot, but after hours of mindlesly walking around waiting or the fun to begin i realized it was never going to happen. In this game you where either a god who has been playing for over a year or a level 1 noob. |
Might & Magic 6 - The Mandate of Heaven: 6/10 points |
Not as great of an experience as some of the older ones in the series but an overall good game that can get rather addicting. You will loose interest after awhile though. |
Planescape: Torment: 7/10 points |
An overall good game. However a bit to slow paced and linear for my blood. |
Pool of Radiance: 10/10 points |
This is THE greatest game ever. Sadly its virtuly unplayable now. But at the time it had no peer, and to this days the memories of the time spent playing do not compare to todays games. Morrowind is close, very close. But it is not D&D. And you have no party to adventure with. My chracter name i have been using in games like DAoC and Everquest are stolen from this game, specificly the pre-generated party on the c-64 version. |
Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor: 5/10 points |
This game made little sense to me, why would elves create a huge underground labyrinth? Isn't that something dwarfs or gnomes would do? Iv read a few forgotten reams novels and the like that always depicted myth drannor to be a ruined city above the ground. A little dungeon here and there would of been nice but not 12 hours underground with the gray dirt followed by 5 mins of sunlight. Also this game striped away all of the good qualities of the 3rd edition rules. |
Pools of Darkness: 8/10 points |
I have always been a huge fan of the gold-boxed games and when this one came out I was shaking with happiness. However it was not the best of the series but still a better gaming experience then most RPGs. |
Return to Krondor: 8/10 points |
This game could of scored a nine exceptit was way to short. But i rember thinking to myself when i was playing it "damn this is fun". |
Secret of the Silver Blades: 8/10 points |
The third in the original series. I actually had the entire area mapped by hand, what’s sad is you actually had to do that in order to avoid getting completely lost. An excellent game except that it placed you in some sparsely populated region separate from the area you grew accustom to in the originals. |
Wizardry 8: 7/10 points |
A good game however I found myself having to reload ALOT. That’s embarrassing to say of course and maybe not everyone will admit that. The battles where also very slow and tedious, waiting and waiting, and sometimes you cant even tell what your waiting for. When you first start playing you are looking forward to the battles but by the middle of the game some of them make you want to bash your head on the keys. Some good points where the graphics where very impressive and the story line was very good. Voice acting and character development where very good as well. |
