RPG Vault talks with Khaeon Games' Marketing Manager Barry Hoffman, and Community Manager Corwynn Maelstrom, about their forthcoming game, The Chronicles of Spellborn.
Jonric: As a way of simultaneously introducing and distinguishing The Chronicles of Spellborn, why will it be special relative to other online worlds?

Barry and Corwyn: With so many different fantasy MMOs on the market, we realized pretty early on that we need something unique to break through the clutter. What we ended up designing was a game that took many of the standard MMORPG conventions and turned them on their collective ear.

As one of many significant examples, the Chronicles of Spellborn will not have your typical fantasy MMO setting. Instead of giving the player tons of backstory - most of which no one ever reads - we have the storyline of our game play itself out in both the past and the present. Players will move back and forth in time as they uncover the hidden history of their world to unlock new content in the present.

Also, the environment in the present is not a single landmass. The survivors of an ancient cataclysm now live out their existence in the hollow planetoids called Shardrealms that float in a magical nebula called the Deadspell Storm.
