RPG Vault has continued their interview with Marcin Kurczewski from Imaginations about Mutant Chronicles Online. Here's a snip:Jonric: When your character dies, will there be penalties such as lost items or experience points? What led you to this decision, and will it matter whether you're killed by an NPC or another player?
Rado: When a character dies, he temporarily loses 90 percent of his statistical scores (they increase back automatically during a certain period of gameplay) and all items from inventory. All his assignments become invalid. As you can see, these consequences are quite serious; we want to avoid players treating death as a mere one-second passage.
We decided that the idea of permanent death is a bit too drastic, so we ultimately decided to do it in this way. Please note that only the loss of items is something permanent. The player re-spawns (awakens) in the closest area controlled by his corporation. For the victim, it makes no difference if he has been killed by another player or an AI character. |
