Following on from the Winner Takes it All: Statues contest hosted by Whatlieshidden.com, the official The Chronicles of Spellborn site features the questions submitted by IronBlue and the rest of the Spellborn community.IronBlue: How will character advancement work in TCoS? The tried and true method is out there, everybody agrees with leveling, but what of innovation? Do you guys have any specific ideas regarding new and excitingly chunky advancement systems?
TCoS Devs: We do use levels as the primary means of character advancement, but this is not where it stops. The combat system works with a “Skill Deck” which has a few similarities with card games. A Skill Deck can be filled with skills. More skills can be learned as the player advances in level. Apart from learning new skills for your Skill Deck the players will have to adjust their deck to different settings (players can ‘save’ several deck setups in order to avoid having to constantly readjust) if they want to be most effective under certain conditions. I can imagine that players might want to switch Skill Deck setups when they group with different classes for PvE and PvP. This means that for PvP that there will be an evolving game of tactics and counters. In this manner the player can learn and advance as well, instead of just the Player Character. | Source: The Chronicles of Spellborn |
