The staff over at GameSpy have unveiled the Bard's Tale Developer Diary #9 - this discourse taking place with Bard's Tale Environmental Artist, Erik Jacobsen...

In The Bard's Tale, we decided that since the player is not going to get a whole lot closer to the world (or the Bard) we were going to bring the world closer to the player. I wanted huge trees that went right up to the camera, not the silly 12-foot dwarf trees. I wanted tall buildings. I wanted tall wooden Viking gateways so close you can see the runes and designs carved in. I wanted the player to feel like they were immersed even though the camera was 30 feet in the air.
