The folks at IGN.PC sat down with Blizzard's Bill Roper for an interview about Warcraft 3. Here's an excerpt:
IGNPC: You mentioned the uniqueness of the campaigns. Has there been anything particularly challenging about making this game do everything you said it would do.

Bill Roper: One of the biggest challenges we had is making sure that the single player campaign is reflective of the storyline that we came up with for the game in the beginning. It's been a big challenge as we've gone through with all the different ideas we've had for the game that we haven't really removed ourselves from our initial thoughts. It would be easy to go through and do some things very differently especially in how the gameplay changes affected what characters did with heroes for example. But I think we've done a good job of balancing our initial ideas with the requirements were to make a compelling strategy game

Also, balancing something like the multiplayer aspects of the game and then keeping those changes going into single player is always difficult. There have been times where we've had to go back and completely rework single player missions because of major changes we've made in multiplayer. It's definitely been a challenge maintaining everything. Especially reflecting the great comments we've gotten back from beta testers in that. And so, I think that's been the biggest thing we've had to do: make sure that the changes we've made to the game to make the multiplayer work well then are accurately reflected in the single player campaign.
