A preview of Anarchy Online: Shadowlands, the upcoming expansion for Anarchy Online, has been posted at AOVault. Here's a tasty appetizer:
While there will be a lot geography for players to explore, it won't be the only thing that players receive when they buy Shadowlands. Unfortunately for players who want it, there won't be an increase in the current level cap of 200. However, players who do buy Shadowlands will be able to specialize their characters after level 50. Totally independent of the current skill system, specializations will allow members of each of profession to… well to become more specialized in certain fields. This will give players a greater opportunity to make their character look less like other characters in the same profession. Players who are already past the level 50 mark shouldn't fear that they'll lose out on part of their specializations. When Shadowlands is install, players past level 50 will still receive all of the "specialization points" they're due to receive up to their current level. Also along the line of profession specific abilities will be the addition of profession specific armor. This means that each profession will be given it's own unique set of armor that only that profession can use. Unfortunately, no specifics on the armor have been released yet. In addition the profession specific armor, Funcom is also planning on adding a plethora of additional weapons on armor to Shadowlands. While players who don't own the expansion will be able to see the new items, unfortunately, they won't be able to be sold or given any of the items.
