Thanks to Gene from EDBIS for sending along word that they have posted an interview with Chris Pasetto, Lead Designer on Interplay's 'Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel' for XBox and PS2.[EDBIS RPG] During the initial planning and design phase of FOBOS what did
you do to prepare yourself to undertake this project? What inspired in your
designs in the game play and story?
[Christopher Pasetto] The whole team played a lot of Fallout, Fallout 2,
and Fallout: Tactics. Read old Fallout design docs, website discussions,
Fallout Bible updates. And played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance to
familiarize ourselves with the technology and base game style. From that
point on, we set out to balance the best elements of the PC Fallout titles
with our console/action direction and technology. Story-wise, in addition
to drawing a great deal from previous Fallout games, F:BoS loosely echoes a
lot of Grail mythology and the legendary medieval knights' quest to restore
life to a dying land. Don't want to give away too much more than that ;-) |
