A Tale in the Desert Playing Session

Another playing session of A Tale in the Desert will take place today. Here is the full info:
As you may recall from two sessions ago, the discovery of Battering Ram Construction, and the possibility that it could be used on the Ancient Statue of Octec alarmed the scientists at the Great University of Architecture. They issued a statement that the Statue of Octec was critical to their research. There are efforts underway to enter the statue by force, and also to ban the use of battering rams.
During last week's play session, quite a bit of progress was made toward the technology of Automation: People have started to build apiaries to supply bees wax for the "lost casting method" used to make cast iron gears.
Also last week, the first really expensive skill, "Salvage", was introduced. This skill allows recovery of a portion of the building materials of a structure to be recovered when it is torn down. The skill is also unusual in that it is taught by several of the schools - each has their own tuition cost, and if you study at multiple schools, your proficiency increases.
We'll have a play session on Sunday, 10/14/2001 from 12:30PM EST until at least 4:30PM. If you've played in a recent session, no new software is needed. Otherwise, visit the new downloads section of http://www.ataleinthedesert.com
This session will introduce papyrus cultivation, and a few other surprises.
As always, visit the official IRC channel, #ATITD on irc.stratics.com:6667 either before or during the session.
