Mutable Realm's MMORPG, Wish, has been previewed at PC.IGN. Here's a snip:
One thing about these games that people love is quests. Wish has been billed as "quest-centric" and they indicate that quests "can last for many months". Currently, the game only has a few quests, mostly for newbies, but even then I was greeted with an up close and personal encounter with the Great Wyrm I mentioned earlier. He attacked an NPC I had to talk to during our conversation, part of the quest, and I got to watch a spectacular magical battle as I fled on my way to Thanesford, a large city, to deliver an emergency message about the beast. A sense of urgency is instilled when you hear the warning horns and the sounds of the great beast's wings flapping overhead. Then, when the trees around you become alive with fire, you know it is time to go. These are actual events, not a cut scene, from a pre-beta game in a newbie quest. In recent conversation with Lead Designer Dave Rickey, he describes, "A dynamic questing system that varies the goals, rewards, issuers, and redeemers each time a quest is issued." This is a definite indication that quests in Wish will not be exactly what you are used to, which is a wonderful thing. With a passing reference to a MMORPGDot interview in a later paragraph it must be an informative article! *g* |
